Everyone has a list. The follow-ups you meant to send, the report you promised by Friday, the inbox you keep meaning to clear. Most AI tools ask you to turn that list into workflows, triggers and steps before anything gets done.
We think that's backwards. So we built Tasks, a board where you write down what needs doing, hand it to an AI agent, and watch it get done.

What is Tasks?
Tasks is a live AI task manager inside DeskFerry. It has four columns, and every card moves on its own as your agents work:
- Backlog: work you've planned and are ready to hand off
- Needs You: paused, waiting on a quick call from you
- In Flight: what your agents are working on right now
- Done: everything finished today
It looks like a project board, but there's one big difference. You don't move the cards. Your agents do.
New to handing work to AI? Our guide to AI task automation covers the basics, with examples.
How it works
- Write the task. Describe it the way you'd brief a teammate: "Summarise yesterday's unread emails and post the highlights in #team-updates."
- Assign an agent. Pick one of your agents or hire a specialist from the Marketplace.
- Let it run. The card moves to In Flight and your agent gets to work inside Gmail, Slack, HubSpot, Notion or any of 1,500+ connected apps.
- Make the calls that matter. If the agent needs to send an email or update a record, it pauses and the card moves to Needs You. You approve it from your Desk, and the agent carries on.
- See it done. The card lands in Done, so at the end of the day you can see exactly what got handled.
Why an AI task manager instead of a workflow builder?
Because that's how people already think about work. Nobody wakes up thinking "I need a multi-step automation with a conditional branch." They think "I need to chase that invoice."
A good AI task manager should meet you there. You write the task in plain English, and the agent figures out the steps. No flowcharts, no triggers to configure, no code.
You stay in charge
Handing work to AI only works if you trust it. That's why Tasks is built around your Desk: one place for every decision your agents need from you.
Agents don't guess on the things that matter. Anything that sends a message or changes a record can wait for your yes. You review it, approve it, and the work continues. Over time your agents remember your preferences, so each task goes a little smoother than the last.
What people use it for
- Inbox: "Flag anything urgent from clients and draft replies for me to approve."
- Sales: "Research the five leads that came in today and add notes to HubSpot."
- Team updates: "Turn yesterday's Slack threads in #product into a short email recap."
- Meetings: "Send the notes from this morning's call to everyone who attended."
Built for busy teams, not just builders
If you've looked at AI agents for business before and bounced off the setup, Tasks is for you. You don't need to design anything. Write the task, assign it, and check in when your agents need you.
Every DeskFerry plan includes unlimited agents, with plans from $49/month, and models from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and xAI with no API keys to manage.
