AI Agent for Inventory — Built for GitHub
Automate Inventory for teams using GitHub. DeskFerry agents handle the workflow end-to-end — no code, set up in minutes.
Nightly sync complete. 3 SKUs auto-reordered:
Meeting notes
- • SKU-2841 (Black tee, M): 18 units → reorder 200.
- • SKU-1077 (Mug, white): 6 units → reorder 150.
- • SKU-0413 (Sticker pack): 142 units · within range.
How does GitHub work for inventory automation?
GitHub works for inventory automation by powering a DeskFerry agent that runs the workflow end-to-end inside your existing tools — no code, no custom build.
- 01
Trigger fires
The agent connects to GitHub alongside the other apps your team already uses, watches for the triggers that matter for inventory, and takes the next step on its own while keeping a complete audit trail for review.
- 02
Sync inventory between Shopify and our warehouse
AI predicts stock needs based on historical data, seasonality, and market trends.
- 03
@GitHub reorders SKUs at threshold and posts the ledger to @Sheets nightly
Teams typically see materially lower via predictive reorder once the agent is in production.
- 04
You approve
You stay in control: every action is logged, confidence thresholds are configurable, and anything ambiguous is queued for a human instead of being silently auto-completed.
How you tell it what to do
Built in plain English.
You write the rule the way you'd describe it to a teammate. The agent reads the rule, breaks it into the actions it'll take, and confirms the apps it'll touch — before it does anything.

How it connects
Connect GitHub. The agent does the rest.
Claude and ChatGPT are already running on our side. You connect GitHub with one click, and inventory management runs inside it.
Claude and ChatGPT run on our keys. Nothing for you to configure.

Runs on your data, in your apps.
Nothing to deploy. Nothing to maintain.
Actions
What GitHub + DeskFerry can do
Real GitHub actions your AI agent can perform automatically — no manual work required.
Accept a repository invitation
Accepts a pending repository invitation that has been issued to the authenticated user.
Add email for auth user
Adds one or more email addresses (which will be initially unverified) to the authenticated user's github account; use this to associate new emails, noting an email verified for another account will error, while an existing email for the current user is accepted.
Add app access restrictions
Replaces github app access restrictions for an existing protected branch; requires a json array of app slugs in the request body, where apps must be installed and have 'contents' write permissions.
Add a repository collaborator
Adds a github user as a repository collaborator, or updates their permission if already a collaborator; `permission` applies to organization-owned repositories (personal ones default to 'push' and ignore this field), and an invitation may be created or permissions updated directly.
Add a repository to an app installation
Adds a repository to a github app installation, granting the app access; requires authenticated user to have admin rights for the repository and access to the installation.
Add a selected repository to a user secret
Grants a specified repository access to an authenticated user's existing codespaces secret, enabling codespaces created for that repository to use the secret.
Add assignees to an issue
Adds or removes assignees for a github issue; changes are silently ignored if the authenticated user lacks push access to the repository.
Add labels to an issue
Adds labels (provided in the request body) to a repository issue; labels that do not already exist are created.
Add org runner labels
Adds new custom labels to an existing self-hosted runner for an organization; existing labels are not removed, and duplicates are not added.
Add or update team membership for a user
Adds a github user to a team or updates their role (member or maintainer), inviting them to the organization if not already a member; idempotent, returning current details if no change is made.
SKU-2841 (Black tee, M): 18 units → reorder 200.
Fields extracted and validated; assignee notified in Slack.
Held for review — one value fell under your confidence bar.
Human in the loop
Approve before it sends.
Every draft lands in a review queue. You approve, edit, or reject — the agent never acts on its own unless you explicitly turn that on for a workflow you trust.
Governance
Every action, with the reasoning attached.
Each step the agent takes is logged with what it did, why it did it, and which app it touched. Audit-ready, so security and compliance can sign off without backfilling.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
How does inventory automation scale with increased GitHub volume?
The inventory agent scales automatically as your GitHub activity grows. Whether you process 10 or 10,000 inventory tasks per day from GitHub, the AI handles the volume without slowdowns or additional configuration.
How long does it take to set up inventory automation with GitHub?
Most users connect GitHub and launch their first inventory automation within 10 minutes. The guided wizard handles OAuth authorization, and you configure inventory-specific rules through a visual no-code builder.
What happens when the inventory agent encounters an issue in GitHub?
When the AI hits an edge case during inventory processing in GitHub, it escalates to your team with full context — the GitHub record, what was attempted, and why it needs review. Your inventory pipeline never stalls or loses data.
Can the GitHub inventory agent also work with other tools in my stack?
Yes. The inventory agent connected to GitHub simultaneously interacts with 1,500+ other apps — CRMs, databases, email platforms, and more. A single inventory workflow can pull data from GitHub, process it, and push results to multiple destinations.
How does the inventory agent forecast demand for GitHub?
The agent analyzes historical sales, seasonality, market trends, and GitHub-specific demand drivers (events, weather, promotions) to produce SKU-level forecasts. Reorder triggers fire automatically when stock crosses calculated thresholds.
