AI-Powered Content Creation for E-Commerce
For online stores adding products faster than anyone can write them up: an agent that turns supplier spec sheets into product pages in your brand voice, with meta descriptions and alt text, saved as drafts for merchandising to publish.
14 new SKUs drafted from 3 spec sheets. First one:
Taken from the spec sheet
- • From Hollis Knit spec v2: 68 merino / 30 nylon / 2 elastane blend, cushioned sole, sizes S to XL.
- • Wrote "naturally odour-resistant merino" but left out "antibacterial", which the spec doesn't claim.
- • Alt text for 4 images, meta description at 148 characters, size chart linked.
How can an online store automate product descriptions and launch copy?
An online store automates product copy by giving an agent the supplier spec sheets, the product catalogue and a short brand voice guide.

Anything under your confidence bar waits for a human.
When new SKUs land in Shopify without a description, the agent writes the title, body copy, bullet points, meta description and image alt text from the specs, using only materials, sizes and care instructions the supplier actually states. It saves each product as a draft, not live, and writes the matching launch email section for Klaviyo. Claims the spec sheet doesn't support, such as waterproof or organic, and products with missing size charts go to a review queue for the merchandiser.
How you tell it what to do
Built in plain English.
You write the rule the way you'd describe it to a teammate. The agent reads the rule, breaks it into the actions it'll take, and confirms the apps it'll touch — before it does anything.
- 1Find the supplier spec sheet for the new SKU
- 2Write title, description, bullets and meta description
- 3Add alt text for each product image
- 4Save as draft and queue unsupported claims
Chatbot vs agent
One asks. The other finishes.
What you get back when you hand content creation to a chat window, versus to an agent wired into your E-Commerce stack.

A general AI chatbot
“Send me the product names and key features and I'll write descriptions. A good structure is a benefit-led opening line, three to five bullets on materials and fit, care instructions, and a short meta description under 160 characters.”

What it handles
What the agent takes off your desk
The Content Creation work that runs without you once the rule is set.
No more blank product pages
Products imported from a supplier feed get a full description the same afternoon instead of sitting live with the supplier's one-line title.
Copy that isn't the supplier's
Every reseller of a brand gets the same manufacturer text. Rewriting it in your voice gives search engines a reason to rank your page and not theirs.
Claims you can defend
Words like waterproof, organic or hypoallergenic are only used when the spec sheet backs them, which keeps returns and marketplace complaints down.
Launch emails that match
The product copy and the new-arrivals section of your Klaviyo campaign are written together, so the email and the page describe the product the same way.
Reads supplier spec formats
Spreadsheet line sheets, PDF tech packs and supplier portal exports, matched to your SKUs by style code or barcode.
Writes per-channel versions
A long Shopify description, shorter marketplace titles within their character limits, and social captions for launch day.
Handles variant families
Colourways and sizes of one style share a page with variant-specific details, instead of five near-identical product pages.
Fills the SEO fields
Meta titles, meta descriptions, URL handles and image alt text written for each product and checked against length limits.
Context
Why product copy is the bottleneck behind every new drop
A new collection is only as ready as its slowest product page.

Buying signs off the range, photos come back from the studio, and then forty SKUs sit in Shopify with the supplier's title and no description while someone finds time to write them.
The work is fiddly rather than creative. Each page needs the right fabric blend, sizing, care instructions and fit notes, pulled from a tech pack that may use the factory's terminology. Supplier copy can't be pasted as-is because every other stockist has the same words. And one careless adjective, like calling a DWR-coated jacket waterproof, turns into returns and complaints. The agent works from the spec sheet outward: it only states what the supplier documents, writes in your voice guide, fills the SEO and alt text fields at the same time, and leaves every page as a draft so merchandising keeps the publish button.
Use cases
How teams put this to work
Scenario 01
Seasonal collection drop
Sixty SKUs from four suppliers are imported the week before launch. The agent drafts every page from the tech packs, groups colourways under one product, and holds six items whose size charts are missing so the buyer can chase the factory.
Scenario 02
Marketplace listings
The same products go on Amazon with a stricter title format and bullet limits. The agent writes a marketplace version from the Shopify draft, keeping claims identical, and flags any product whose category needs a compliance document before listing.
Scenario 03
Back-catalogue cleanup
Two hundred older products still carry supplier boilerplate and no alt text. The agent rewrites them in batches of twenty as drafts, so the team can review a batch a day without the live store changing under them.
Supplier photo caption says "waterproof" but the spec sheet only lists a DWR coating. Wrote "water-resistant" and held it.
Five sizes in Shopify, no measurements in the spec sheet. Can't write the fit section.
Supplier sent identical copy for sand, olive and black. Holding until you say whether they share one page.
Human in the loop
Approve before it sends.
Every draft lands in a review queue. You approve, edit, or reject — the agent never acts on its own unless you explicitly turn that on for a workflow you trust.
Governance
Every action, with the reasoning attached.
Each step the agent takes is logged with what it did, why it did it, and which app it touched. Audit-ready, so security and compliance can sign off without backfilling.

Held Trailhead rain shell copy for review.
Reason: The photo caption says waterproof but the spec lists only a DWR finish. A waterproof claim needs a rating the spec doesn't give.

How it works
Get started in three steps
Step 01
Connect the store and the spec folder
Link Shopify, the Google Drive folder where supplier tech packs and line sheets are saved, and Klaviyo if you want launch email copy written alongside.
Step 02
Give it your voice and your red lines
Paste your brand voice guide, a few product pages you're proud of, and the words you never use without proof, like waterproof, organic or non-toxic.
Step 03
Publish from the drafts
Drafts appear in Shopify for merchandising to edit and publish. Unsupported claims, missing size charts and duplicate supplier copy wait with the reason shown.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Will the agent publish products to my live store?
Not unless you change the rule. By default every product it writes is saved with Draft status, so nothing reaches customers until someone on your team opens it and publishes. Some stores let it publish restocks of existing products and keep new products as drafts.
How does it keep product claims accurate?
It writes from the supplier's spec sheet and nothing else. If a feature isn't documented there, it doesn't appear in the copy. Words on your list of claims that need proof, such as waterproof, vegan or dermatologist-tested, are only used when the spec sheet states them, and otherwise the product is held.
Can it match our brand voice?
Give it your voice guide and five to ten product pages you consider on-brand. It follows sentence length, how you describe fit, whether you use humour, and words you avoid. When a merchandiser edits a draft before publishing, those edits are a useful signal to add to the guide.
Does it write alt text and meta descriptions too?
Yes. Each draft gets a meta title, meta description within the length search engines show, a clean URL handle, and alt text for every product image describing what's actually in the photo, such as colour, angle and whether it's worn on a model.
What about product copy for Amazon or other marketplaces?
It can write a marketplace version from the same spec sheet, following that channel's title format and bullet rules. Claims stay identical across channels. Listing the product on the marketplace is a separate step you can keep manual or add to the rule once you trust the drafts.
